1994 Q 45 Dashboard Disassembly

I am trying to get into the dashboard to change a cell phone fuse and
decided to do it myself so I could destroy the car and then pay someone to
put it back together again.

Ii is not going so well. I just took a crowbar to the ashtray thinking that
to be the key to the puzzle. My wife stopped me as I was going for the 12
gauge.

Can anyone tell me how to get into the dashboard without killing my car,
which loves to take me 150mph in 35 mph zones?

Thanks, Tim

Many thanks…….

(from my 95 factory shop manual)

    Disconnect battery
    Disconnect AirBag

    1.  Remove steering wheel
    2.  Remove steering column lever
    3.  Remove A/T finisher
    4.  Remove ash tray assembly
    5.  Remove cluster lid "C" (transmission selector/radio/A/C face plate)
    6.  Remove cluster lid "D" (cruise cont.faceplate)
    7.  Remove lower instrument cover (drivers side)
    8.  Remove front floor console assembly and rear floor console
    9.  Remove cluster lid "A" (main inst cluster face plate)
    10. Remove glove box assembly and lower inst cover (pass side)
    11. Remove defroster grille
    12. Remove radio and A?C control
    13. Remove combination meter (dashboard)
    14. Remove instrument panel and pads.

Of course, if this is a FACTORY PHONE, then there is only 1 fuse
(located at the battery fusible link box, marked ‘Br/Y’ and 10 amp.
That’s in addition to the 2 fuses in the main fuse block (both 10 amp,
    marked ‘battery’ and ‘ignition switch’).

Can’t help with your effort directly, unless you want to borrow my 3′
cheater to put on your crowbar…  :-)

But I do have a recommendation, if you have the time.  Order the factory
shop manual.  In the back portion of the owners manual should be a page
that tells you how to order it.  It will help a lot in times like you’re
going though now, and will even help when you get shop work done, as you’ll
be able to back check what they’re telling you needs to be done…
