Questions on your Nissan??
clear headlights for a 96 altima
Wanted to know if clear headlight assemblies were available for the 96
altima. No, not the ‘blue’ lights but entire assemblies with clear
transparent (and not transluscent) lenses, like on some of the new hondas
etc.
Thanks.

Drive Computer
My 87 Maxima drive computer started to give false readings about the
same time my speed transducer started to go bad. I replaced the speed
transducer but the drive computer still gives me bad readings (2 or 3
times higher than normal miles, miles per gallon, etc)
Is there any way to recalibrate the drive computer to be accurate
with a new speed transducer?
Frontier leaking
Hello NG,
I have a Frontier that, until now, I did not have any problems with. I
bought it back in July. I’ve been reading some of the post on this NG, and
have not had problems with my fuel gauge, rocking beds, unusual tire wear,
or anything else reported. I have rear-sliding glass and have discovered
that it is leaking – in three palces! Has anyone else had this problem?
What’s the cure – the local dealer is talking about replacing the entire
window. Did the warranty cover it? Comments appreciated –
Regards,
RWA

Pathfinder Clutch Replacement Costs
I have a 91 Pathfinder that has 109K and the original clutch.. Since I have
so many miles I was trying to determine how much a clutch replacement would
cost? Also, when I shift from 3rd to 4th (at high rpm) there is a slight
knock (minor grind) that occurs, could that be a synchronizer in the tranny??
If so what would that run me?? Thanks – Phillip

Pardon my ignorance
I should probably know this already, having owned this car for 5 years now,
so feel free to flame. I’ve got an ’87 Stanza, with the CA20E engine. This
engine has twin-spark ignition (i.e., eight plugs and a distributor with
eight points). How exactly does this work? Does it switch between sets,
say at a certain RPM? Or does it fire both sets all the time, maybe to
ensure complete combustion? They definitely don’t fire at the same time,
judging from the pattern of the points; one set seems to be 45 degrees out
ahead of (or behind?) the other. Just wondering, really.
Thanks,

Octane required for 92 Maxima?
Hello all,
Just a quick question. I just sold my 95 Trans Am and am about to purchase
a 92 Maxima SE and was wondering what gasoline octane is required for this
engine (please tell me 87 is OK – got tired of putting Premium in the TA)?
Also what kind of mileage do you guys get from this generation Maxima
(automatic) – the TA gave me 17 mpg virtually all the time?
Thanks,
Chris

Pathfinder 4WD
Greetings all;
I’m looking at purchasing a 95 Pathfinder. My question to you all is
what are the limitations of 4WD high. For example, my 88 Cherokee manual
says to only engage 4WD at speeds of less than 100km/hr, and only on
slippery surfaces. Maximum length of driving is 18kms. I found this
often limiting in my climate (Northern Ontario).
Also, any other offers of info or suggestions are welcome. TIA.
Bill
