Have just bought a 89 Maxima SE. Speedo began flickering in mornings and won’t
work. Repair shop changed all part from transmission to back of speedo display
for 300 bucks. Still have same problem and also front left speaker, rear two
speakers and clock don’t work. Shop says it is a loose connection problem and
wants more cash. I have taken the entire dash out and checked all connections.
Checked harness connector behind fuse panel and tried to secure grey connector
with plastic tie. Nothing has worked so far. Don’t know which wires go where.
Any connectors near clutch pedal (5 speed)? Have Chilton’s schematic but can’t
figure out what connections to check. When car hot in the afternoon sun –
speedo, clock and front left speaker work. When cools, they go off again. Will
appreciate advice. If can please reply to krishca…@aol.com.
Thanks.

Hate to be the bearer of bad new (actually bad manuals) but I doubt you
would ever find the correct location with the Chiltons (they actually
had some sort of diagram? Usually they just make some lame statement
like `due to the wide variety of models involved…..’), get yourself a
Nissan manual or pay someone who has one to fix the car.
